Blogging to Build Business

Don’t hate me for not always practice what I preach…but I do have my reasons. Ever hear about the shoemaker’s children and their shoes always were in need of heels or new soles but dad was just too busy working the business of fixing other people’s shoes? Welllll, I love building websites, blogging and just helping others to get what they want and need and sometimes I just don’t get everything I do posted here.
But do take note! Blogging will not only help you build your business, but can help you build it quicker than just a “plain, old fashioned” website alone. So read on and see the few basics you need to include in you blog for the best blogging purposes.
Blogging is a great way to boost your business or to simply get more recognition online. Search engines automatically rank blogs higher than most other sites because blogs are updated frequently and that’s important to the search engines. Google loves new and relative content!
However, there are a few things you can do to make your blog more popular. These include bookmarking every post, using forums and Yahoo answers, including pictures with your blog, and creating videos…just to name a few.
Bookmark It
Social bookmarking sites are a great way to get your blog in front of more people. Not only will people see you blog listed on the social bookmarking site, getting all those incoming links to your blog will help your search engine ranking. So, make sure you bookmark every blog post you make.
Use Forums
Another way to make your blogging more advantageous is by using forums. You should actively participate in forums that are related to the topic of your blog. Make sure you make quality contributions to the forum and then put a link to your blog in the signature of your forum posts. To find a forum, simply type the following into the Google Search bar: TOPIC (salons, spas, massage therapists, skin care, etc….whatever your topic is) “forums”.
Use Yahoo Answers
Using the internet to its best advantage is all about great marketing and helping others find answers to their specific questions gives us the perfect opportunity to market our business. Yahoo answers (and similar sites) are a great way to make your blog more popular too. Look for questions relating to your niche or topic and then answer those questions. Make sure you put your website/blog link in the source box to direct people to your website/blog.
Include Pictures
Whenever possible include at least one picture with each blog entry you make. There are millions of people who search for pictures online. If they can find your blog this way then it will give another avenue for people to find you and your blog. It will also make your blog look better to your readers and improve their overall experience. Always remember to “link” your picture to another appropriate page within your blog or website. If the person happens to click on your picture, it will keep them within your site longer, which will also give your website/blog a better ranking.
Create Videos
Ok, this is where I fall short. I help others to make the videos for their sites and I neglect mine.
This is one of those “do as I say and not as I do” references. I will tell you that people would prefer to watch a video or listen to audio than they would read; so a short video can be quite effective.
Post videos on your blog and be sure to post on other video sites such as YouTube. (You will need to create a YouTube account using your business name.) If you have a knack for creating great videos then that’s great, but if you’re only able to create basic videos then that’s fine too. As I mentioned above, creating even simple videos will still help make your blog more popular.
If you do these things when blogging, then you will have a popular blog in no time at all.
