Infrared Body Wrap FAQ

Infrared Body Wrap Benefits

So why do I always recommend an infrared body wrap to my clients?  The answer is quite simple.  There are many therapeutic benefits of an infrared body wrap.  Let’s talk about them a bit.  They are in no particular order, as I believe they are all important.

Infrared helps the reduction of cellulite (fatty clogged, water logged tissue), and promotes weight loss by helping to breakdown fat.

By helping the body to burn many calories per infrared body wrap session (I am told as much as a 1500), it is revving the metabolism with the calorie burn and, therefore, supports the body fat reduction which leads to weight loss.

Because infrared heating the body from the inside to outside of about 1 ½ – 2 inches deep into the skin, an infrared body wrap encourages detoxification of accumulated toxins and metabolic waste through sweating.

It is important to drink water before and during the infrared body wrap and to replenish electrolytes after using infrared because the infrared body wrap can help the body rid itself of excess fluids that prevent the body functioning at its optimal levels.

Using infrared improves circulation, cleanses and tones, as well as improves the skin’s elasticity.

I like to promote the weight loss benefits to my clients because of the revved up circulation and metabolism, but most come back for the total benefits of the way their bodies feel:  clean, younger, tighter and more relaxed.

How does an infrared body wrap help to reduce Cellulite?

Cellulite is a gel-like substance made up of fat, water and wastes which are trapped in pockets below the skin.  Toxins accumulate in the body during modern daily living and the body eliminates most toxins naturally by sweating but the process is sometimes too slow.  Infrared can assist this condition, as infrared heat therapy stimulates the sweat glands that cleanse and detoxify the skin.  The  infrared  heat technology simply speeds up the body’s natural process.

How does an Infrared Body Wrap Help with Weight Loss?

An Infrared Body Wrap emit Far Infrared Rays and this heat therapy can aid in weight loss by speeding up the metabolic process of vital organs and endocrine glands, resulting in substantial caloric loss in one body wrap session.  Sweating is part of the complex thermoregulatory process of the body that increases the heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate.  The process requires a large amount of energy and reduces excess moisture, salt and subcutaneous fat.  Fat becomes water soluble at 110 degrees Fahrenheit and then allows the body to sweat out fats and toxins.

As every individual is different, fat loss from an infrared body wrap will depend upon the physiological make-up of that person.  So the greater the excess weight someone has, the faster and more dramatic results will be seen.  Some people may not experience a great weight loss, but will see an improved body appearance by losing inches or dress sizes.  Extremely physically fit people that don’t carry excess weight or inches can experience much improved muscle tone.  The more physically active a person is, the greater the benefits that can be achieved from an infrared body wrap.  A less active person may take longer to see results as their body must grow accustom to the infrared body wrap heat therapy.

Of course if a client who is using an infrared body wrap eats or drinks excessively, most of the results from the infrared body wrap treatment will be for not.  Commons sense tells us that as with any body treatment or system to help one attain a better physical appearance, one must adjust their nutritional needs.  Ideally, an infrared body wrap treatment will be most beneficial for those who stick with a balanced exercise and eating program.

Clients that lead a very sedentary lifestyle can still achieve great results, but will require a longer period of time.  Again, they too must take control over their exercise and eating habits to obtain their desired results.

My experience using the infrared body wrap on myself and on clients provides a body reduction of at least one size in approximately 6 – 10 infrared body wrap sessions and spacing the sessions with 2 to 3 days between each session. Although this is the standard results I have experienced and I have seen, but as I stated earlier results are different on every person and dependent upon their body type and lifestyle.

Can I drink water before or after an infrared wrap treatment?

It is highly recommended to drink water before, during and after a session as this allows the body to stay hydrated and replaces body fluids that have been sweated out during the session.  Sometimes if someone sweats excessively, electrolyte replacement may be needed and I offer the client some electrolyte replenishing drink.

How often can I get an infrared wrap treatment?

This will depend on a person’s lifestyle.  If a person is very physically active undertaking significant walking, jogging, working out, or competitive sports, the infrared heat therapy can be used as often as every 2 days.  For best results it is preferable right before a workout as this will help burn the most dramatic amount of calories and also has maximum impact on body definition.  With relatively physically inactive people, a minimum of 3 days between sessions is recommended.  More regular sessions are unnecessary and may actually be detrimental to results.  Upon reaching the intended body shape, it is possible to revert to a maintenance only schedule, which for most people, should be around 2 – 4 times a month.

Can Everyone Use an Infrared Wrap?

Virtually everyone from all walks of life can gain benefit from infrared heat therapy.  However, sessions should not be undertaken unless clients have received their Doctor’s advice where any of the following conditions exist:  Over activity of the thyroid gland, cardiac infraction, cardiac weakness, constriction of the coronary blood vessels, market high or low blood pressure, diabetes required insulin treatment, disturbances to the function of the kidneys and associated organs, fever, severe general infection, contact allergies, skin diseases, open wounds, newly acquired shingles, pregnancy, prescribed medicines causing increased sensitivity to physical stimulation (for example: antibiotics), cases of severe varicose veins.

If any doubt exists, it is recommended that clients seek their doctor’s or health practitioner’s advice.

  1. Hi, we are interested in your far infrared body wrap.

    • Hi Rubina. Thank you for your interest. Here is a link for the INFRARED BLANKET. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 630-343-9730. Andrea

  2. Hi~
We are a tanning salon that would love to offer infrared body wraps but I’m not sure what products- lotions/creams that are best to obtain the best results for the clients. Also do you suggest any kind of paper jump-suit the client would wear before getting into the blanket. Any help you can offer is much appreciated.
    Thanks Chaun Maxx

    • I am so sorry about the delay in getting back to you. You comment slipped between the cracks on my site.

Do you already have an infrared sauna or infrared blanket? Or are you looking for a specific system?

I am happy to chat with you as there are a couple of options that I can recommend to you. I will explain the difference to you better when chatting.

FYI when using infrared, you really do not need any type of product to get results. However, by having some type of lotions, sprays or creams, the client
will achieve specific benefits and results of the products you are using, as well as getting more of a specialized treatment.

Some of the products designed for use with the infrared are for either to help the client sweat faster, or sweat harder by creating a barrier, and there are others with essential oils to help burn fat.

About the suits, I have not found a good wholesaler for them as of yet and am still searching. Some of the people I know use the white painters coveralls found on line or at local hardware stores.

I personally use cotton yoga type pants and long sleeve T shirt or long underwear (top and bottoms) to catch the sweat…and because I do not like the ‘feel’ of the plastic sticking to my skin.

I hope that helps. Be well,
      Andrea

    Hi Andrea,

I am so lucky to have stumbbled upon your site during my search for information on body wrapping. I am planning to change careers and open my first business, which will include, among other services, body wrapping treatments. I truly believe finding this information is God sent! I’ve been researching various infrared body wrap systems, such as the Formastar, Slim It, Fit Wrap, and Sudatonic, but it’s so many and they seem so similiar, yet vary in pricing. I want the absolute best product to offer my clients; however, I don’t want to spend unnecessary money that can be put elsewhere. I’ve even purchased the “lower end” far infrared blanket posted on your site for home use to begin trying new things that I come across to determine what works and what doesn’t. Will you please offer your suggestions regarding this matter?

    • Hi Liquesha,

Thank you so much for contacting me and giving me the chance to help you with your business. Yes, I completely understand about all of the different choices about body wraps and infrared and really anything in the beauty industry. It can be very overwhelming.

I have used all of the products you mentioned and I do have a preference. But let’s chat about what you are trying to achieve, and maybe my preference the best choice for you.

Yes, the ‘lower end’ blanket is fine for home use, but doesn’t stand up as well for a business with continue use hour after hour.

Give me a call at 630-343-9730 or email me at Andrea@SpalonTechniques.com and give your number and the best time of day to contact you.

      Be well,
      Andrea
